What is SEO?
SEO stands for “ Search Engine Optimization”. The process to improve your ranking & visibility over the world wide web. SEO helps you stand out from the crowd.
How does it work?
Search engines like Google & Bing use bots to crawl the internet and collect data from all over the net about those pages that are out there in the wild, after the collection they put them into an index to make it easy for you to find what you’re looking for. (Think of it as a huge library).
Big search engines have algorithms that analyze all and every page & information the bots collected, taking into consideration hundreds of ranking factors and signals.
If you are starting a new online business note that you must have SEO-friendly content so Google bots can find you and index you in its library. However, Google focuses on three basic steps :
- Crawling.
- Indexing.
- Serving.
Think of Google as a user who gets into your web page and starts looking for information (TEXT / IMAGES), so you must place everything in harmony so Google can recognize your page is about what exactly, so it can index it. If Google can’t find a logical structure in your web page it will not index it and it will be lost in the wild.
Google has so many smart ways to detect if your page should be shown after a user types ‘’ Chocolate” or Heineken “. This is where you should think about using KEYWORDS.
Since I started working in SEO, I learned one thing, treat Google as your GURU. It shows you the way to be in top ranks, you just need to put everything in its place so it can recognize it.
